Su-11はソビエト防空軍の戦闘機Su-9の発展型です。外観の大きな変更点は、ノーズコーンのレーダーを大型化したため、胴体にテーパーがない「ただの筒」になったことぐらいです。Su-9は機首がすぼまって、もっと飛行機らしいシルエットでした。
MiG-21の場合は同様にノーズコーンのレーダーが大型化されても、どんなに改良されても「MiG-21」でしたが、スホーイはSu-9からSu-11に名称変更されました。きっと、Su-11の場合は単にSu-9のレーダーの大型化にとどまらず、当時としては画期的な、中距離空対空ミサイルR-8の運用能力を持ったという革新的なものだったからでしょう。
キットはトランぺッターの2017年ごろの製品なので、大変作りやすいです。本当はSu-9のほうが機首が細くて、ミサイルも小型ですが４発搭載でデザイン的にカッコいいと思っていましたが、以前に古いコーペラティバですが1/72キットを完成させているので、今回はSu-11のほうを買った次第です。
Su-11 is an advanced type of Soviet Air Defense intercepter Su-9. The nose radar was replaced with a new large radar. Therefore the nose corn and the nose diameter had been bigger. So the taper of the nose was extincted. The side shape of Su-11 looks like just a simple cylinder.
Su-9 had a narrower nose and a tapered body.
In the case of MiG-21, even if the nose cone radar was enlarged, and even if many parts were improved, it was called "MiG-21". But Sukhoi was renamed from Su-9 to Su-11.
Maybe because Su-11 had not only a larger radar than Su-9, but also an innovative ability of the operational capability of the mid-range air-to-air missile R-8.
This kit is very easy to build, as it is a 2017 Trumpeter's kit.
To tell the truth, I love Su-9 with four small missiles than Su-11. But I have a Cooperativa's 1/72 Su-9. So this time I chose Su-11.
