今はなきアキュレイトの1/48シュトルモビクです。イタレリから発売されているものと中身は同じです。大戦初期の、単座で翼に後退角がないタイプのものです。さらに厳密にいえば、単座タイプのうち、主翼端の前方にもマスバランスがあり、風防前に照星針のない（説明書の取り付け指示は誤り）、初期の生産型です。
最も多く生産された、複座の後退翼のタイプ（タミヤのタイプ）もアキュレイト（今はイタレリ）は出していましたが、主翼全部もコクピットも全く違うため、キットとしては「バリエーション」ではなく、ほぼ「別キット」です。パーツで言えば、エンジン回りと尾翼まわり、脚まわりしか共通にできる部品がありません。部品の共通度が極度に低いため、タミヤのスタンスでは、単座タイプを発売することはありえないと思ったので、期待するのはあきらめて、ちょっと作りにくいですが、アキュレイトのこの単座タイプを作った次第です。
IL-2は最初は単座機として生産されました。後方防御の都合から、前線部隊で独自に機銃（最初は完全固定式）が設置され、結局は正式に後部銃手席が設けられた生産型へと移行しました。
キットのデカールは１種のみで、大戦後半の仕様でした。つまり、赤い星に白いフチがあるタイプです。しかしキットはせっかく単座の初期型なので、大戦初期の雰囲気にしたかったので、ダークグリーンのベタ塗りにして黒いフチの赤い星を流用しました。大戦初期のIL-2の写真は極少なので、塗装・マーキングは適当です。（本当のところ、ベタ塗りはほとんどなく、ダークアースとダークグリーンの２色迷彩が標準だと思われます。（＾＾;））
ちなみに、ソビエトの航空機は通常、ピトー管の針は内装式なので、他国のように細い針が外部に出ていません。一見、ディテールアップを怠っているように見えます。（＾＾）
This is 1/48 Accurate Miniature's kit which was discontinued. Later, this kit was sold by Italeri. It is a single-seat type with no swept-back wing in the early war.
Strictly speaking, this kit is a single-seat early type which has a mass balance at a wing tip front and doesn't have a sighting needle in front of the canopy. (The instruction is incorrect.)
Accurate (now Italeri) also produced the most producted, double-seat and swept-back wing type (Tamiya's type). But whole main wings and cockpit of this single-seat type are completely different from double-seat type, therefore both kits are almost a separate kit. I thought that it would not be possible to release a single-seat type by Tamiya, so I gave up my expectations and I got this Accurate's single-seat type and made it.
At first the IL-2 was produced as a single seat aircraft. For the sake of rear defense, some regiment installed a rear machine gun. (Fixed type.) And eventually a rear machine gun and a gunner seat were installed at the production process.
There is only one variation decal in this kit. It was a type of the latter half of the war. In other words, the red star has a white border. However. But this kit is a single-seat early model, so I wanted to make this model as an aircraft in early war. Therefore I painted in dark green and took black bordered red stars from another kit. The paintings and markings are rough. Because the photographs of early IL-2 are very few. (In fact, I think that almost of all early IL-2 were painted in dark green and dark earth than dark green only. (＾＾;))
By the way, Soviet aircraft usually have internal Pitot needles, so there are no thin needles outside as in other countries aircrafts. At a glance, it looks like neglecting detail up. (＾＾)
