地上クルー付きの、ICMのキットです。中古屋で安かったのでゲットしました。いつか、赤い星のついたスピットファイアを作ってみたかったので、ちょうど良いと思って作りました。
しかし、中学生が描いたような拙い箱絵にビックリです。
LF.IX Eというのはローレンジファイター（低空域戦闘用）Mk.9のＥタイプ武装機という意味です。空気の濃い低高度で速度を得るために、翼端がカットされています。
しかしLaGG-3と同じく、ICMのこの頃（2000～2010年ごろ）の製品は、モールドは結構いい感じなんですが、大きな部品の合わせに難があり、結構隙間や歪みに苦しめられます。機首のエンジン回りのパネルが分割されていますが、これを歪まず普通に組み立てるだけで大変でした。ICMのスピットファイアは、あとMk.7とMk.16を積んでいますが、とりあえず組み立てる気にはなれません。
また、この時期のICMのデカールは、厚いうえにボロボロになるので、使えません。あの、強度のツヤ消しのデカールです。星はなんとか使いましたが、矢印はボロボロになったので塗装にしました。
このカラーリングだとスピットファイアに見えないですね。ソ連機は通常、翼の上面には国籍マークを付けませんが、米英からのレンドリース機はどれもソ連機と違いスマートで、空中戦時によくドイツ機と間違って撃たれたということで、翼上面にも国籍マークがついています。
いつも空中張線をお絵描きで入れていますが、スピットファイアは1943年から（具体的にはMk.7以降）無線機の型式が変わって、上面（アンテナ棒から垂直尾翼）も側面（ラウンデルあたりから水平尾翼）も空中線はなくなりました。描き忘れではありません。（＾＾）
ICM kit with ground crews. I got it at low price at a secon-hand shop. I always wanted to build a Spitfire with red stars, this was a good chance.
However, I was surprised at the poor box art like as drawn by junior high school student.
LF.IX E means low range fighter (for low altitude combat) , Mk.9, E type armed wing. The wingtips are cut for speed in dense air at low altitude.
However, same as the LaGG-3 kit, the ICM products around this time (around 2000-2010) have finely good molds, but are not good fitting.
Panels around the engine are divided fine, but it was hard to build them for bad fitting. I have ICM's Spitfire Mk.7 and Mk.16 in stock, but I don't want to assemble them now.
And ICM decals this time cannot be used because they are thick and fragile. This is that, the very matt decal. I used the stars, but I painted arrows.
This camoflage doesn't look like a Spitfire. Soviet aircraft usually do not have a national mark on the upper of the wing. But all lend lease aircrafts from the United States and the United Kingdom have the national mark on the upper surface of the wing. Because they are smarter than Soviet aircraft, and were often shot by comrades by mistake with German fighters.
I usually draw the antenna wire on PC. But Spitfires after Mk.8 don't seem to have antenna wire. It seems that the model of the radio has changed.
So, this time, I didn't draw the wire.
